因為對那些不瞭解漢語或中國文化的人來說，the Duanwu Festival和the Dragan Boat Festival真的沒有任何區別。。。

，閱卷老師只認這個。。。）

一個名字傳達不了太多，關鍵在於對名字背後含義的解釋。

The Dragon Boat Festival falls on the 5th day of the 5th lunar month。

端午節在農曆五月初五。

表示某個節日是在哪一天，用

fall on

，落在某一天。

fall on真的既地道又官方，寫在試卷上絕對很高階的。

對端午節的解釋，當然就是端午節的幾個重要傳統習俗了。

首先，

粽子

，rice-dumpling/zo

ngzi.

粽子在端午節的地位應該是最重要的了。粽子的英文是：

rice-dumpling

，這是比較書面的表達，更常用的表達是

zongzi

，就是粽子的拼音直譯。因為是中國特有的食物，所以直譯過來也沒問題，類似還有很多是中文拼音直譯過來的，如餃子的“jiaozi”。還有不是完全拼音，近似的直譯豆腐的“tofu”，功夫的“kung fu”。

因為老外對粽子沒有概念，所以名字說成什麼樣，他們都是一臉懵逼，那我們乾脆就說Zongzi好啦。

重要的依然是對粽子的解釋：

Zongzi are pyramid-shaped dumplings made of glutinous rice， stuffed with different fillings and wrapped in bamboo leaves。

粽子是金字塔形狀的糯米做的餃子，有不同的餡兒，包在竹葉裡面。

Pyramid： 金字塔

Pyramid-shaped：做成金字塔形狀的

（pyramid可以換成其他名詞，apple-shaped，蘋果形狀的）

Glutinous rice： 字面義為黏黏的米，即糯米

Stuffed： 此處可以理解為動詞stuff的被動態

stuff作名詞為東西，作動詞為裝滿、塞滿

Stuffed，被動，即被塞滿了。。。

Filling： 名詞，來自動詞fill，filling為名詞，填的東西，即餡兒

Wrapped： 來自動詞wrap，包裹

1）have bamboo leaves watered。

粽葉先浸水。

2）Fill the boat shape with a few tablespoons of the soaked sticky rice。 Top with a sprinkling of mung beans。

在船型粽葉中填入幾勺浸溼的糯米，再加少許綠豆。

3）Add some smoked meat and shrimps。

再加入醃製過的肉和蝦。

4）Packed it with line with three， four， or five angles。

用線把粽子裹起來，可以做成三角、四角或五角。

5）Boiled them， first with big fire， then turn to small fire till rip。

然後再進行蒸煮，先用大火，再轉成小火直到粽子殼開裂。

當然吃瓜群眾在端午節除了吃粽子，也少不了看熱鬧。端午節的熱鬧當屬賽龍舟~

賽龍舟：Dragon boat racing.
