今天就是一年一度的愚人節啦，不知道大家有沒有愚人或者被愚呢？

Today is April Fool‘s Day！ Did you fool someone or were you fooled by someone？

每年這一天，人們都摩拳擦掌，以幽默的方式慶祝節日，但卻很少有人知道它的由來和習俗。

Every year on this day， people are gearing up to celebrate the festival in a humorous manner， but few people know its origin and customs。

愚人節怎麼來的？

The origin of April Fool’s Day

每年四月一日是西方也是美國民間傳統節日——愚人節，英文為April Fool’s Day。愚人節已出現了幾百年，對於它的起源眾說紛紜，但廣為流傳的是，愚人節起源於法國。

1564年，法國首先採用新改革的紀年法——格里曆（即目前通用的陽曆），以1月1日為一年的開始。而法國的舊日曆則是以4月1日作為新年，保守派拒絕更新，仍然將4月1日作為新年慶祝。主張改革的人為了嘲弄保守派，便在4月1日這天給他們贈送假禮物，邀請他們參加假的聚會。並把上當受騙的保守分子稱為 “四月傻瓜”或“上鉤的魚”。從此人們在4月1日便互相愚弄，成為法國流行的風俗。

18世紀初，愚人節習俗傳到英國，接著又被英國的早期移民帶到了美國。今天，愚人節已經發展成為一個國際性節日。

In 1564， France first adopted the new reform of the calendar year - the Gregorian calendar with January 1st as the beginning of the year。 The old calendar in France was April 1st as the New Year。 Conservatives refused to update and they still celebrated April 1st as the New Year。 The people who advocated the reform mocked the conservatives by giving them fake gifts on April 1st， and inviting them to attend fake meetings。 The deceived conservatives were called “April fools” or “fish hooked。” Since then， April 1st has become April Fool`s Day。

家庭佈置

西方國家過愚人節時，人們常常組織家庭聚會，用水仙花和雛菊把房間裝飾一新。

典型的傳統做法是佈置假環境，可以把房間佈置得象過聖誕節一樣，也可以佈置得象過新年一樣。

當家人或者朋友進門的時候

祝賀他們“聖誕快樂”或“新年快樂”

On April Fools‘ Day， people from Western countries often organize family reunions， and use daffodils and daisies to decorate the room like Christmas or New Year。 When family or friends enter the room， they congratulate them on “Merry Christmas” or “Happy New Year”。 It`s unique and interesting~

魚宴

多數美國家庭，要在節日這天舉辦魚宴。

主人在節前向客人們發出邀請，請帖通常是用紙板做成的彩色小魚。

餐桌用綠、白兩色裝飾起來，中間放上魚缸和小巧玲瓏的釣魚竿，每個釣竿上系一條綠色飄帶，掛著送給客人的禮物或是一個精巧的賽璐珞魚，或是一個裝滿糖果的魚籃子。

Most American families will hold a fish feast on the day。 The host sends invitations to the guests before the holiday season。 The invitation is usually colored fish made of cardboard。 The table is decorated in green and white， with a fishbowl and a small fishing rod in the middle， each with a green ribbon， a gift for the guest， a delicate celluloid fish， or a fish basket full of candy。

做假菜

先是一道“色拉”，萵苣葉上撒滿了綠胡椒，把葉子揭開後，才發現下面原來是牡蠣雞尾酒。

The first dish is “salad”， which actually is oyster cocktail。

第二道菜是“烤土豆”，其實下面是甜麵包屑和鮮蘑。

The second dish is “roast potatoes”， which is covered with sweet bread crumbs and fresh mushrooms。

And raspberry ice cream buried under tomato salad。

各國習俗區別

Different customs around the world

在英國，人們在愚弄完人，對方還一頭霧水的時候，會大喊一聲“四月的傻瓜”。據民俗學家研究，在英國及那些節日傳統源自英國的國家，惡作劇的時間只能持續到當天中午12 時，過了中午還戲弄人，自己就變成“四月的傻瓜”。

而在蘇格蘭，人們過去把愚人節稱為“找布穀鳥日”，蘇格蘭語中“布穀鳥”一詞有傻瓜的意思。

在法國、義大利和比利時一些地區，人們喜歡在這一天把一隻紙魚偷偷貼到別人背後，並大喊“四月的傻魚”。

在波蘭，愚人節當天充滿各種玩笑，不僅普通民眾互相搞惡作劇，連媒體和一些公共機構也加入惡搞的行列。當天，波蘭人一般避免舉行重要活動。

In Britain， when people are fooling people， they will shout“A fool of April”。

In Scotland， people used to call April Fool’s Day as “Cuckoo Day，” and the word “cuckoo” in Scots means fool。

In some regions of France， Italy and Belgium， people like to sneak a paper fish behind others on this day and shout“a silly fish April”。

In Poland， April Fool‘s Day is filled with all kinds of jokes。 Not only the ordinary people engage in mischief with each other， but even the media and some public institutions join the ranks of spoofs。 Poles generally avoided important events on that day。
