Child： What‘s for dinner tonight？
寶寶：今天晚上吃什麼呀？
Mom：
Spaghetti with meat sauce
。
媽媽：
義大利肉醬面
。
Child： I love spaghetti night！
寶寶：我喜歡義大利麵之夜！
Mom： It’s
almost ready
。
媽媽：
快做好了
。
Do you want to
set the table
？
你想負責
擺餐具
嗎？
中文說擺餐具，但英文用set the table-佈置桌子。
We‘ll need
plates
，
forks
， and
napkins
。
我們需要
盤子
、
叉子
和
餐巾
。
Child： OK。
寶寶：好的。
What are the
ingredients
？
裡面
都有什麼呀？
Ingredients指原料，這裡的翻譯根據中文語言習慣編寫。
Mom： Spaghetti，
ground beef
， onion， garlic，
green bell pepper
， tomatoes， olive oil，
basil
， salt and pepper。
媽媽：義大利細面、
牛肉餡
、洋蔥、大蒜、
青椒
、西紅柿、橄欖油、
羅勒
、鹽和胡椒。
Child： I always
have a hard time
eating spaghetti。
寶寶：我吃義大利麵老是吃
不好
。
Mom： It takes time to get good at eating it。
媽媽：多練練就能吃好了。
Child： Can you tell me how to
get
them
on
the fork again？
寶寶：你能再教我一下怎麼

Mom：
Take
your fork
媽媽：

it
down through
the noodles，

hit
the plate。

spin

to get the noodles on it。

Child：
It's kind of messy
。
寶寶：

Messy指髒亂的。
Mom： It is，
媽媽：是的，
but you’ll
get the hang of it
eventually。

You‘re doing better than the first time you ate them。
你比第一次吃的時候好多了。
Child： Can I eat spaghetti
with chopsticks
？
寶寶：我能

吃義大利麵嗎？
Mom： Sure。
媽媽：當然。
Hold
your chopsticks like this，

the noodles

them。

。
There are more than 350 kinds of
Italian pasta
， including spaghetti，
macaroni
，
lasagne
，
fettuccine
，
ravioli
， etc。
義大利麵食
有350種呢，包括義大利細面、
通心粉
、
千層麵
、
意式寬面
和
義大利小方餃
等等。
（1） 提到義大利麵，我們首先會想到spaghetti-義大利細面，但是pasta才是各種義大利麵食的統稱，spaghetti只是其中一種。
（2） Spaghetti讀作 ［spəˈɡeti］，macaroni讀作 ［ˌmækəˈrəuni］，lasagne也可以寫作lasagna，讀作 ［ləˈzɑ：njə］，fettuccine讀作 ［ˌfetuˈtʃi：ni］，ravioli讀作 ［ˌræviˈəuli］。
Child： Wow！
寶寶：哇！
That’s a lot。
好多啊。
Mom： Yeah。
媽媽：是的。
Also， noodles can be made with lots of different
flour
。
還有，麵條可以用不同的
麵粉
來製作。
Italian noodles are made with
wheat flour
。

Child： How about our Chinese noodles？
寶寶：咱們中國的麵條呢？
Mom： Well， most of them are made of
wheat

rice noodles

rice
。

We also have some noodles made of
sweet potatoes
and
peas
。
還有一些粉兒是用
紅薯

豌豆

Also， there is a kind of Japanese noodles called
soba
還有一種日式麵條叫
蕎麥麵
，
that are made with
buckwheat
。

蕎麥
做的。
表達麵條是用什麼面做的，made後面加of、from和with都可以。
Child： They sound

。
寶寶：它們聽起來

。

Mom： Sure。
