母校的英文是什麼？

每個人都有一所“自己能罵，別人不能說”的母校，說起母校來，吐槽和感情都是滔滔不絕，但是該怎麼用英文聊呢？

不少人顧名思義，靈機一動就說mother school，畢竟祖國是motherland、mother country，母校這麼說貌似也沒錯~

雖然…但是千萬不要這麼說！

母校的正確開啟方式是Alma mater，沒錯，它看起來不太像英語，因為是起源於拉丁語的表達，複數（很少用）是 almae matres。

它表示“大學，學院”，主要是美式英語用法，用來指稱已經從中畢業的院校或與學校相關的歌曲和讚美詩。

In English， this is largely a U。S。 usage referring to a school or university from which an individual has graduated or to a song or hymn associated with a school。

這個短語有不同譯法，可以是“乳母”或“養母”，表明學校向學生提供知識（智力滋養）。除此之外，母校還可以用one‘s old school表示。
