機不可失，用英語怎麼表達？可以不用 chance 或 opportunity

機會是給有準備的人，就像天道酬勤（God helps those who help themselves），因此要停止白日夢和無所事事，時刻做好準備，爭分奪秒，利用有限的生命去發現或創造無限的可能。

都有“機會”的意思，

chance 和 opportunity

卻不盡相同，chance 往往帶有不確定性，而 opportunity 通常是積極或褒義的，這就是為什麼 take a chance （on sth） 是冒險做某事的意思，而 take the opportunity to do sth 是利用機會做某事。

雖然都有“機會”的意思，但是當我們表達“機不可失”的時候，可以絲毫不用它們中的任何一個，而用 now or never，這個組合跟之前的 give or take 類似。

我們知道 or 是並列聯盟 FANBOYS 裡的一員，連線兩個對等的成分，用來表示選擇，那麼 now or never 的字面意思是“現在或永不“，它也是一種選擇，用來比喻現在是唯一的機會，也就是勿失良機，例如：

格言 there's no time like the present 最早記錄是在1562年，編撰者約翰·特魯斯勒（John Trusler）對此進行了進一步的闡述：“

No time like the present， a thousand unforeseen circumstances may interrupt you at a future time。

把握當下，一千個不可預見的情況可能會在將來的某個時候打擾到你。

因此下次勸別人要抓住機會時，記不住 chance 或 opportunity 的用法也沒關係，可以使用 it’s now or never 或 there‘s no time like the present，簡單又有味道，我們也可以使用這兩句來勉勵自己把握當下，今日事今日畢。
