一、用英語表示生日的常用方法

有時簡單地從漢語字面意思來看，看不出是用基數詞還是序數詞，此時不要想當然地亂用。如：

今天是我爺爺的60大壽。

誤：Today is my grandfather’s sixty birthday。

正：Today is my grandfather’s sixtieth birthday。

漢語說“三十歲生日”“六十大壽”等，其實指的是過第30個生日，過第60個生日等，所以要用序數詞而不用基數詞。

二、用英語表示年齡的常用方法

（1） 一般直接用基數詞表示，如：

Her daughter is eighteen。 她的女兒18歲。

（2） 用“基數詞 + years old”表示，有時可將years old 換成years of age。如：

Her daughter is eighteen years old。 / Her daughter is eighteen years of age。 她的女兒18歲。

（3） 用“基數詞-year-old”表示，此結構常做（前置）定語。如：

Her 18-year-old daughter is now in the university。 他18歲的女兒現在上大學。

（4） 用“at the age of +基數詞”表示“在“在……年齡”。如：

Her daughter got married at the age of eighteen。 她的女兒18歲就結了婚。

（5） 用“of + 基數詞”表示，此結構常做後置定語。如：

Her daughter is now a pretty girl of 18。 她女兒現在一個18歲的美少女了。

（6） 用“aged +基數詞”表示，此結構常做後置定語。如：

Lying on the floor was a boy aged about seventeen。 躺在地板上的是一個約莫十七歲的男孩。

（7） 用“be in one’s +幾十的複數形式”表示某人大概的年齡。如：

He went to the United States in his fifties。 他五十多歲時去了美國。
